Profile of Maria

The unlikely expat blogger behind Breeze Field Mark

Hello, I am Maria

I’m a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Lisbon, Portugal.

Some years ago I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually turned into a new chapter of life overseas.

Origins of Our Move

Moving to Portugal wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much bigger.

The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complicated than they ought to be.

The Transition Phase

Culture shock, uncertainty, and a hands-on learning curve characterized this time. Yet over time routines took hold. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began shaping something that felt steady.

Why I Created Breeze Field Mark

Most online guidance fell into corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.

This site aims to fill that gap with practical advice drawn from real-life experiences in Portugal.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site IS:

  • Hands-on experience from living in Portugal
  • Centered on family living and daily realities
  • Updated whenever there is a meaningful change

This site ISN'T:

  • A tourism-board resource
  • Sponsored review platform
  • A generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our stay in Portugal goes on, and the learning journey continues. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we learn.

If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, please feel free to get in touch.

Best regards,

Maria
